Our bus took us through what seem very poor villages.  We were in the section of the country that has no rain.  And that's a good thing because it looked as if a slight rain would probably claim many of the houses.

On one of the Doctor's rounds the surgeon was told by this mother:

"Doctor, I am poor, it took us 2 days to get here.  I don't have money to go into hotels but we got here.  My son often asks me, why was I born this way, why can't I be like the other kids."

The surgeons emothional reply that drew teirs in everyones eyes.  "Your son does not realize it yet, but he is very special.  And he will be a testimony to others who will go through the same torment he has gone through."

    Surgeon examines progress of surgery.

Mother asks surgeon:  "Doctor, What can I expect with the surgery you performed."

Surgeons reply:  "I have repositioned the muscles in his cleft pallet, which should allow him to speak better and will probably improve his breathing."

Mother's reply:  "Yes he used to have to grasp for air and he often had to make sounds in an attempt to clear his throat.  He doesn't seem to be doing that anymore, thank you doctor."
