TALLER INTER-CULTURAL HISPANO-AMERICANO

"Strong Roots... Healthy Stems"

The "Taller Inter Cultural Hispano-Amcericano" (Hispanic-American Inter-Cultural Workshop), TICH is a non-profit organization that strives to make the hispanic culture and history available for students. TICH encourages children to learn more about their roots. It helps them understand other cultures and exposes them to similarities as well as historical differences of other cultures.

The TICH mission is to encourage students to become better citizens by showing them why they should have pride in their heritage. This is accomplished by allowing the students to investigate, probe and understand how different cultures mesh together and how their unique heritage plays a distinct and vital role in the global mesh.

TICH is now in its sixth year of operation, and has been invited to innumerable events throughout the Tampa Bay Area where the theme is bilingualism, multiculturalism or Hispanic culture. In May of 2003, TICH organized the "1ST Hispanic Cultural Festival of Tampa" with great success at Pierce Middle School.

This year TICH and the Leto Schools Cluster will present the "3rd Hispanic Cultural Festival of Tampa", our spring community festival for adults, youth and children. This event will take place Saturday, April 9,2005, from 10am to 8pm at the Leto High School facilities.

A Personal Note From The Web Master:

During my lifetime I have met many wonderful people.  But their are a few who I will never forget.  Maria Esther Carrillo is one of those people.  She is a woman driven by determination and enthusiasum.  Her Cause is to make the children under her care proud regardless of their current circumstances.  Her mission is to help them learn how to change their own circumstances by showing them the joy and fruits of acquiring knowledge.

The passion that Maria Esther Carrillo radiates is so contagious that it spills over to her staff, then spills over to the students and back over to the parents.

Maria Esther Carrillo I am proud to say that I have been lucky enough to have met you.  And I hope that we will be friends forever.

Your Friend,
Alfred Ruiz
