Tony Perkins Was The Key Speaker At the Summit!

Tony Perkins is President of the Washington D.C. based Family Research Council (FRC). He is a former member of the Louisiana State Legislature where he served for eight years, and he is recognized as a legislative pioneer for authorizing measures like the nation’s first Covenant Marriage law. Since joining FRC in the fall of 2003 he has aggressively continued FRC’s work affirming and defending the Judeo-Christian values upon which the nation was founded. Tony has been active in defending religious freedom in the public square, protecting the unborn and their mothers, defending and strengthening one man/woman marriage, and promoting pro-family public policy in Washington, D.C. Tony hosts the national radio program, “Washington Watch Weekly,” and also sends daily updates to tens of thousands of grassroots activists. An effective communicator, he regularly appears on national broadcasts and cable news programs.

Tony has a tremendous burden to reclaim the culture for Christ, and believes that this revival will begin in the churches across America. Under his leadership, FRC began a Pastor’s Outreach program, which is engaging Christians in civic affairs as never before. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, former police officer, and television news reporter, Tony brings a unique blend of experience and leadership to the pro-family movement. He received his undergraduate degree from Liberty University and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree from LSU in Public Administration. In May 2006, he received an honorary doctorate in Theology from Liberty. Tony and Lawana, his wife of 20 years, have four children.

Ken Blackwell Was The Other Key Note Speaker!

Ken Blackwell is one of the nation’s leading conservative voices and a strong advocate for free market enterprise. In 1994, he became the first African-American elected to a statewide executive office in Ohio when he was elected as State Treasurer. In 2006, he then became the first African-American in Ohio to be a major party nominee for Governor. Testimony to his impact on national economic and tax debates was the endorsement and strong support he received from the Club for Growth. Since the spring of 2004, he has been a member of the Arlington Group.

Mr. Blackwell’s public service includes terms as mayor of Cincinnati, Undersecretary at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Human Rights Commission. He holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from Xavier University, where he later served as vice president and member of its faculty. In 1998, Mr. Blackwell delivered the Becket Lecture on Religious Liberty at Oxford University.

Today, his commentaries are been carried in major newspapers across the United States, including the Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, as well as all major newspapers in Ohio. He is a regular guest commentator for Salem Communications and has also been a frequent guest on Crossfire, Inside Politics, and MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews. Mr. Blackwell is a lifelong resident of Cincinnati and lives there with his wife of 39 years, Rosa, who currently serves as superintendent of Cincinnati Public Schools. They have three adult children, Kimberly, Rashann, and Kristen.

John Stemberger Spoke About The Importance Of Protecting Marriage In Florida.

John Stemberger serves as the President and Chief Counsel for the Florida Family Policy Council. An AV-rated Orlando attorney, he has worked in the pro-life, pro-family movement for more than 20 years. John is a native Floridian and attended Florida State University where he studied political science and philosophy before obtaining a Juris Doctorate of Law at the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. In 1987, he founded the Institute for Conservative Studies (ICS), a permanent, student-led think tank at Florida State University. After internships in both the Florida House and Senate, John worked with attorney Ken Connor in Tallahassee for several years, after which he served as lobbyist for Florida Right to Life with Connor in 1989.

In 1992, John was appointed Political Director of the Republican Party of Florida during the final campaign of former President George H. Bush. In 2001, Florida Governor Jeb Bush appointed him to the Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC) for the Ninth Judicial Circuit of Florida, the body that screens new judge candidates in Central Florida. He was reappointed to the JNC in 2005. John also serves as the State Chairman of the Florida4Marriage.org campaign to amend the Florida’s State constitution to define marriage as between one man and one woman. Most importantly, he has been married to his wife Olivia for twelve years and they have two sons, Joseph, and Benjamin.

Dr Richard Land Spoke About Religious Freedom

Another speaker at the Family Impact Summit: Dr. Richard Land is president of The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, the Southern Baptist Convention's official entity assigned to address social, moral, and ethical concerns, with particular attention to their impact on American families and their faith. He has served in this position since October 1988.


Dr. Land graduated with the Bachelor of Arts degree (magna cum laude) from Princeton University and with the Doctor of Philosophy degree from Oxford University in England. He also received a Master of Theology (Honors Program) degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he served as student body president and received the Broadman Seminarian Award as the outstanding graduating student.

Dr. Land served from January 1987 to May 1988 as Administrative Assistant to the Honorable William P. Clements, Jr., Governor of Texas. Dr. Land was the Governor's senior advisor on church-state issues and areas relating to “traditional family values” as well as anti-drug, anti-pornography and anti-abortion legislation. Dr. Land also had senior staff responsibility in public higher education, mental health and retardation, the physically handicapped, and AIDS.

He currently co-hosts a 30-minute nationally syndicated weekday radio talk show, For Faith & Family, as well as a daily radio commentary, For Faith & Family Insight, sponsored by The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention. His radio presence is carried on over 600 radio stations and on the web each week.

Dr. Land also hosts a syndicated live, 3-hour, caller-driven radio program, Richard Land Live! Heard every Saturday, on Salem Radio Network and XM Satellite Radio, Dr. Land deals with current issues from a Biblical perspective.

Dr. Land is an author of 6 books and contributes articles to learned journals  and popular periodicals. He has been a Baptist pastor since 1969. He has served Baptist churches in Texas, Louisiana and England. 

Dr. Land is a native Houstonian and a sixth-generation Texan. He has three adult children and has been married 34 years to his wife Dr. Rebekah Land.

Katherine Harris Spoke About Christian Citizenship!

Katherine Harris comes from a family that is active in Christian evangelism. Her grandfather was a Christian missionary in Africa, while her aunt and uncle were missionaries in India and now head the Arab World Missions. Harris studied under Dr. Francis Schaeffer at a L’Abris Fellowship International center. She says her faith is “the most important thing in my life.”

In 1998, Harris ousted incumbent Secretary of State Sandra Mortham. She was widely praised for luring investment and foreign business to Florida. Harris won the 2002 election to represent Florida's 13th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives. She held that post from 2003 to 2007. Harris lost the November 7, 2006 election to represent Florida in the United States Senate.

Harris is a fourth-generation Floridian who hails from a prominent family. Her grandfather, cattle and citrus mogul Ben Hill Griffin, also served in the Florida legislature. She graduated from Agnes Scott College and earned a master's degree from Harvard University.

Harris is married to Swedish businessman Anders Svel Ebbeson and has one stepdaughter, Louise.

Bishop Jackson resides in Beltsville, Maryland with his wife and family.
